Typically, laminate flooring does not need to be glued down. Instead, flooring fits together in tongue and groove fashion to create a floor that floats above the subfloor. This helps with the longevity of the floor since it can be repaired, if damaged, by replacing individual planks or tiles. Laminate can be installed over concrete, wood, and some existing flooring. Waterproof brands can be placed in spaces that are less than ideal for wood products. Be aware that warranties often guarantee that flooring will not be damaged by water during a specific period, often 30 hours. In other words, it is better to clean up the water or a spill immediately, if possible.
